Verkada Updates: What’s New this Quarter?
Verkada, a leader in cloud-based physical security, recently announced its first quarter updates, making it even easier for their 29,000 customers worldwide and 89 Fortune 500 companies to keep their people and places safe and secure. We are proud to partner with Verkada as they redefine the future of physical security with continuous innovation.
A Word From Verkada Leadership
CEO and Founder Filip Kaliszan kicked off the Q1 announcements, explaining that “over the last year, Verkada has made major advances with products and features meant to improve the safety of businesses across industries. We have invested heavily in AI with features like AI-powered search or call transcripts and AI-powered chips that will enable future advances and functionality in our software platform.”
Verkada’s Senior Vice President of Product and Operations, Brandon Davito, went on to explain during the February 2025 update that, “Today, Verkada's platform controls access for more than 3.7 million users and checks in more than 1.5 million visitors every month. We know that security starts at the door, so we've made significant investments in our platform that will both strengthen and simplify the entry experience for our customers – especially for organizations managing access in enterprise environments."

Updates - Products & Innovations
Verkada is always pushing the boundaries, innovating, and improving its products for customers. Let’s take a look at what’s new at Verkada in terms of access controls, alarms, cameras, AI and software, integrations, workplace updates, and intercom.
Access Controls
To strengthen entry points and enhance the entry experience, Verkada is now offering some unique access control options. Businesses that see regular traffic at entry points for vendors, contractors, and employees can grant temporary, customizable visitor access credentials. This on-demand access control option allows businesses to issue temporary visitor access credentials digitally and/or via physical keycard. This perfectly balances the need for robust security and ensures that guests can efficiently navigate a facility.
Additional updates to access control include support for third-party OSDP door readers, further extending organizations' ability to integrate their access control hardware into the Verkada system. According to the Q1 announcement, there are also two new APIs that automate access control operations: programmatic updates to door schedules and the ability to update the doors, schedule, or group components of an access level from third-party software.
Alarms
Verkada’s alarm updates focus on three major painpoints of traditional alarms – minimal false alarms, maximum context and control during an alarm, and frictionless deployments at any site and scale.
To combat false alarms that often happen when employees need to access facilities after hours, the latest Verkada alarm updates allow for several armed disarm methods, schedules, key codes, and commands. New this year is the introduction of a fourth: a badge to disarm. The latest alarm options also use AI to identify actual humans attempting to enter the facility versus a person or persons loitering near entrances.
Now Verkada is taking further action by adding line-crossing triggers. This allows businesses to configure the camera to trigger when someone crosses a digital line in the specified direction. This is perfect for entrances, gates, and fence lines where you want to get an alarm when someone crosses over while ignoring activity on either side.
Partition-based alarms were also introduced this quarter, allowing for different alarm responses within a facility depending on which sensors are triggered. “For example, if intrusion sensors or cameras are tripped, agents can call security before dispatching police. On the other hand, when the panic button is pressed, agents can immediately dispatch police,” said Sid Dedhia, Senior Product Manager, Verkada Alarms.

Cameras
2025 brings new camera products to Verkada. Camera technology has expanded with the introduction of two new cameras in the next generation line, including the CD forty-three and CD fifty-three domes, which are available for both indoor and outdoor deployments. The new products feature improved image quality, low-light viewing, and AI processing.
Camera updates also include intuitive search capabilities, with revamped people and vehicle pages that streamline searches for people and vehicles of interest, all on a single search bar.
AI & Software
AI is everywhere, and Verkada is harnessing its power in its products as well. Enhancements to AI-powered search allow for reverse image search. This allows the AI-powered search bar to upload an image and then see corresponding results of people and vehicles that appear similar to the uploaded image.
There have also been updates to history player search for ease of timeline construction. With History Player Search, Verkada customers can now access a comprehensive overview of all sightings of an individual with a single click – another way to streamline and optimize investigations.
Integrations
In this world of interconnectivity, it is more important than ever to have all your systems work seamlessly. Last year, Verkada introduced integrations with popular platforms like mass notifications and access control systems, GSOC solutions, and RTCC real-time crime center solutions. This year the latest iterations of Verkada products expand third-party integrations with platforms like Aura and Axon, and improvements to Command Connector for legacy camera integration.
Workplace Updates
Maintaining security while allowing for ease of entry and access is key to the future of the workplace. Improved this year is Verkada Guest. It can now provide a temporary access badge with precise permissions tailored to the visitor. Verkada Guest can quickly issue door access to visitors with a badge, or, for smartphone users, visitors can open doors directly from a link on their phone. Each credential is unique, time-bound, and exactly matched to the visitor's needs.
Intercom
Organizations can now configure their intercoms with updates such as the Emergency Configuration Mode, which allows for key features designed to enhance emergency response, such as live video footage for a more informed response from emergency personnel. During evacuations, the intercom’s onboard badge reader can be used as a mustering station. During an emergency, users can tag the intercom and mark themselves as safe to ensure everyone is accounted for.
Advances and updates in the products in Verkada’s cloud-based physical security platform often come from customers. Verkada customers unlock doors 3.3 million times a day so many of the ideas for improvements come directly from the users themselves. Verkada is committed to improving customer experience while maintaining robust security.
